COLD!

It has been so cold the last couple days and isn't supposed to warm up for a while. Today was rough. The pipes in the kitchen froze and so I put heaters up in the cupboard and downstairs too to thaw out the pipes. Great idea, except that they decided to unthaw while I drove across town to pick up Lylli from school. I was gone for an hour and when I came home, the sink was overflowing. For some reason, the sink was having difficulties draining (it was zero degrees throughout most of the day today) and so the sink simply overflowed. After I finally got the kitchen cleaned up, Shane went downstairs and discovered the pipes had broken and there was a ton of water downstairs too!!! ACH!!!! But now, as I right this, the adventure is mostly over. My dad came over and helped Shane fix the pipes and everything is warm and draining once more. (Except outside it is still quite fridged.) So that is my adventure for today.
On to happier things! Over the weekend, we had Mandy over. (For those of you who don't have my family tree memorized, Mandy is my cousin's daughter, who happens to be six months older than Lylli.) On Friday afternoon, the girls made gingerbread houses, which they loved, and then we went to dinner with my parents to celebrate my birthday! On Saturday, we went shopping! (Don't worry, Alicia joined us!) My girls each chose a sister's name from a hat and bought one present this year. They had a great time! And now they keep asking when they can do it again!

Great gingerbread houses. We are going to do ours next week! I'm sorry about the cold and the frozen pipes. You guys are troopers. It has been unseasonably warm here the last couple of weeks. It is rainy, but not too cold today. I hope your pipes will stay warm for you!

Sounds like yesterday was just a bad day. Our heater broke in the middle of the night Sunday night, so we had a cold house yesterday. Cute ginderbread houses. I'm sure Carson will want to do one now too.

That's horrible that your pipes froze!!! I am so paranoid about that. It has been so cold here too and so I have started leaving water running every night because people's pipes freeze on a regular basis around here. I'm glad you got the problem solved so quickly though!!

Sounds like you guys are having tons of fun getting ready for christmas and some crazy things too. I hope Lylli doesn't have night terrors for too long! I loved watching your girls dance as little elves. So Cute!
